North Shore
Gabrielle Zaffiro
Senior, Guard
The Vikings star was second in Nassau County in scoring last year, averaging 28.2 points per game and, so far this season, she doesn’t seem to be slowing down. She’s a threat whenever she gets the ball in her hands and all but impossible to slow down once she gets into a rhythm.

Floral Park
Jaeda Delsoin
Sophomore, Guard
: The do-it-all player has packed her stat sheet in all three of her team’s games so far this season. She’s averaging eight points per game, but she’s the spark that makes the offense go and if she can find the open player on the court, she’s going to get the ball in her teammates’ hands.

Scouting Report: North Shore got the season off to a good start earlier this week, topping Glen Cove 63-31 in a non-league matchup at home. Gabrielle Zaffiro packed her stat sheet with a game-high 36 points, eight rebounds and four assists, while Cailey Welch chipped in seven points and 14 rebounds.

The Vikings (1-0) have high hopes this season, looking to get back to the Nassau title game after coming up short against top-seedd Elmont in last year’s championship. Long Shore has championship experience – the program won its first-ever LIC in 2015 – and the key for the Vikings is getting off to a quick start. That holds true in this matchup as well, particularly against a Floral Park squad that’s looking for a bit revenge for a 76-42 loss last February.

It’s been an up and down start to the season for Floral Park, but the squad got back in the win column on December 7, topping East Rockaway 56-44. Marykate Guerriero led the scoring charge with a game-high 19 points and five rebounds, while Jaeda Delsoin did a bit of everything with seven points, six rebounds and five assists.

Floral Park (2-1) comes into this season looking for a bit of a bounceback year after a disappointing end last winter. The Knights weren’t a particularly high-scoring team last season and came up short at North Shore in the playoffs, but if Floral Park can find a bit of an offensive rhythm, this year’s team has the scoring weapons to make a deep run into March.
