FIRST TEAM

PLAYER OF THE YEAR

SARAH ROSE BARONE STERN
Notre Dame Academy, Sr. Midfielder

The senior midfielder was the most consistent scoring threat for the Gators by generating 13 goals and 7 assists, but it was her unselfishness in drawing the attention of the defenders that help the Gators win the Archdiocesan championship over St. Joseph Hill and advance to the CHSAA state title game for the first time ever.

KRISTEN DROGSLER
Christ the King, Sr. Goalkeeper

The three-year starter made plenty of big saves in the last few years for the Lady Royals. Drogsler made an impact in close games by shutting out Mary Louis twice and saving 13 shots in Christ the King’s 3-2 win over highly-ranked St. Joseph Hill in the regular season.

ELIZABETH SCHAEFER
Bronx Science, Sr. Defender

The Wolverines senior effectively handled the job of guarding the opposition’s best scoring threat. Her four-year varsity experience was needed to help a team get through midseason injuries and the co-captain was able to hoist the PSAL Class A championship for the second time in her career.

CATHY LUME
Christ the King, Jr. Defender

The junior sweeper may not have been the tallest player at 5-foot-3, but Lume showcased quickness and smarts to help the Royals win a second consecutive CHSAA Brooklyn-Queens championship.

CARLY AMON
Horace Mann, Sr. Defense

The Lions defender shook off the effects off a neck injury and was a stabilizing presence in the Lions backline. Amon helped Horace Mann shutout No. 2 seed Hackley in the semifinals and Columbia Prep in the NYSAISAA championship game.

MEDINA MULIC
Christ the King, Fr. Midfielder

Medina emerged as one of the top central midfielders in the city in her freshman campaign. The 5-foot-8 Mulic was not only a good passer, but she was a force with her right foot in leading the team with 22 goals.

SARAH HEINTZ
Horace Mann, Sr. Midfielder

The senior was a mainstay in central midfield and became an influential player during the playoffs for the sixth-seeded Lions. Heintz scored the only goal in a 1-0 win over Columbia Prep and delivered her school a first-ever NYSAISAA girls soccer title.

TYLER SLOAN
Beacon, Sr. Midfielder

The four-year varsity player helped guide a high scoring Beacon offense to the PSAL Class A finals. Sloan had a career-high 13 goals and seven assists and was an anchor in the center of midfield for a young Blue Demons squad.

ZOE CLARK
Riverdale, Sr. Midfielder

The University of California-bound midfielder was influential to her team after recovering from a concussion suffered in the preseason. Her ability to pass the ball and make runs at opposing defenses helped the Falcons clinch a school-record third straight Ivy League regular season crown.

DJ GLAZER
Bayside, Sr. Forward

Glazer will play at Marist College as a defender, but it was her deft goal scoring touch that made the difference for the Lady Commodores. She had 40 goals and had eight assists to lead Bayside to the PSAL Class A quarterfinals.

SARAH NOLAN
Christ the King, Fr. Forward

The 5-foot-2 forward showed a burst of speed and a goal scoring touch to record a fine first season with 18 goals and seven assists. Nolan netted a hat trick in a 3-0 win over Mary Louis to guide the Lady Royals to the Brooklyn/Queens CHSAA regular season title.

COACH OF THE YEAR

ANNIE ECKSTEIN
Bronx Science

After previously guiding the Wolverines to the PSAL Class A title game in her first season, Eckstein followed up with a masterful job this season. She kept the team together through key injuries, and a midseason slump to rebound in the PSAL playoffs as Bronx Science defeated three division rivals in the playoffs to win the Class A championship.
