The MSG Varsity Connecticut staff selected the top players, coaches and teams from the 2012 season across the entire region.
Below are the award winners, as well as the first-team and second-team all-stars.

TEAM OF THE YEAR

St. Joseph

The Cadets earned a share of the FCIAC title, had a dominating run in the Class M tournament before reaching the state finals for the first time since 2008 and finished the season 18-3-2. St. Joe's also will return nine of 11 starters in 2013, so expect the Cadets to make another push for this award next year.

COACH OF THE YEAR

Lisa Mariano, Watertown

Expectations weren't exactly sky high for an Indians squad that graduated nine starters, but Mariano did a superb job in guiding her team to a 12-4 regular season before knocking off top-seeded Woodland -- a team it lost to twice earlier in the year -- in the NVL championship game.

FIRST TEAM

SABRINA TOOLE
PLAYER OF THE YEAR
St. Joseph, Jr., Defense

The talented center back was named the FCIAC Player of the Year, and deservedly so after anchoring a Cadets back line that posted 15 shutouts and yielded just seven goals during the regular season. Toole, a two-time all-state and all-FCIAC selection, played a starring role in St. Joe's run to the Class M finals.

JENNA BIKE
St. Joseph, Fr. Forward

The freshman sensation finished the season with 14 goals and nine assists -- and was named MVP after her two-goal performance in the Cadets' 3-1 victory over Ridgefield in what was essentially the FCIAC co-championship game. Bike, a first-team all-league selection, also had a had trick in the Class M semis before leaving for a training cam with the U.S. Under-14 National Team.

ALYSSA FRATARCANGELI
Lauralton Hall, Sr., Forward

The all-New England, all-state and All-SWC first team performer had 12 goals and 16 assists for the Crusaders and was chosen to play in the Connecticut Girls High School Soccer Coaches Association Senior Bowl. Fratarcangeli will play at UMass-Amherst.

JESS LASZLO
Westhill, Soph., Forward

Already a two-time first-team all-FCIAC selection, the skilled Laszlo has established herself as one of the top offensive players in the region.

BEA BLACKWELL
Barlow, Sr., Midfielder

A two-time all-state and all-SWC first team choice, Blackwell led the Falcons to the SWC semifinals and Class L quarterfinals.

ANNA BOREA
New Canaan, Sr., Midfielder

One of the most complete players in the area, Borea finished her career with the Rams as a two-time all-state and first-team all-FCIAC performer.

CASEY PEARSALL
Wilton, Sr., Midfielder

One of 10 national runners-up for the 2012 Wendy's High School Hesiman Award, Pearsall is a two-time all-state and all-FCIAC first team choice. A three-sport standout, she has signed to play lacrosse at Notre Dame.

EMILY PULLEN
Warde, Sr., Forward/Midfielder

The Colgate-bound Pullen leaves the Mustangs with school records for most goals in a season and in a career. A three-time all-state and all-FCIAC selection, Pullen was invited to play in the Senior Bowl and earned all-New England honors after leading Warde to a 10-3-3 season.

SARAH MISCHANTI
Greenwich, Sr., Defense

The tough as nails Mischanti earned all state and first team all-FCIAC honors after helping the Cardinals to a third straight league championship while notching 10 shutouts on the season.

KATIE BRENNAN
Warde, Jr., Goalie

The all-state and all-FCIAC first team keeper began the season with nine straight shutouts and finished with a league-best 12 clean sheets while allowing just seven goals during the regular season.
