Staples senior Henry Wynne has been named the MSG Varsity's FCIAC Player of the Week for Jan. 28-Feb. 2 by a panel of athletic directors and MSG Varsity reporters.

For the second consecutive year, Wynne hit the trifecta at the FCIAC track and field championships, winning three distance races. Wynne won the 1,000-meter run in 2:34.59, the 1,600 in 4:29.99, and the 3,200 in 9:30.54. The three victories helped the Wreckers win their second consecutive FCIAC championship as they edged Danbury 104.33-92.33. Two days later, Wynne competed in the New Balance Indoor Grand Prix at The Armory in New York City and led the mile wire-to-wire, finishing first in 4:11.73.

What's your biggest athletic goal for 2012-13?
Wynne: "My biggest athletic goal this season is to try to better my mile time from last year and hopefully set a school and state record in the process."

Who is your favorite teammate and why?
Wynne: "My favorite teammate is Walker Marsh, we have been on the 4x800 relay together since sophomore year, which has created a strong bond between us. We are always training together and pushing each other to become the best we can be."

What's the best piece of advice you've received?
Wynne: "The best advice that I have receive would have to that no matter how much pain I feel in a race or at practice, it will always be worth it in the end."

Which athlete is your biggest influence?
Wynne: "My biggest influence is David Rudisha, he is the world record holder in the 800m and I love how he looks so easy when he is racing and how humble he is after his races."

What's your proudest accomplishment away from the game?
Wynne: "My proudest accomplishment is committing to the University of Virginia, I am extremely excited to continue my running career there and I hope to continue my success at the collegiate level."
