The MSG Varsity Connecticut staff selected the top players, coaches and teams from the 2011 season across the entire region.

Below are the award winners, as well as the first-team and second-team all-stars.

TEAM OF THE YEAR
Bunnell
After coming up short in the SWC and Class L finals a year ago, the Bulldogs went 20-2-2 and put the finishing touches on the best season in school history by capturing their first-ever league and state championships. Bunnell won the SWC title with a 4-0 victory over eventual Class LL champion Pomperaug, and made its case as the top-ranked team in the state with a 3-0 shutout of Avon on the Class L finals.
COACH OF THE YEAR
Jon Bradley, Darien
The Englishman made a seemless transition from coach of the Blue Wave girls team to the boys as Darien went from a two-win season in 2010 to FCIAC Eastern Division champ, league semifinalist, CIAC Class L quarterfinalist and a 14-4-3 record in 2011 – its best finish ever. Bradley was named FCIAC Coach of the Year.
FIRST TEAM
ZACH ZURITA
PLAYER OF THE YEAR
Bunnell, Sr., Forward
The senior capped a brilliant career with the Bulldogs by totaling 43 goals and 13 assists en route to All-American honors. A three-time All-SWC choice and two-time All-State and All-New England selection, the Monmouth-bound Zurita had career totals of 96 goals and 42 assists.
KEITH BOND

The Yale-bound senior forward totaled 15 goals and 15 assists in leading the Eagles to an 18-2-4 record, an FCIAC championship and the Class LL finals. Named first team All-FCIAC.
JON-LUKE FERRANDINO
New Canaan, Sr., Midfielder
The talented senior was named to the All-FCIAC first team for the second straight year and merited All-State honors. Scored the game-winning goal in the Rams’ upset of Norwalk in the FCIAC quarterfinals.

Westhill, Sr., Forward

A two-time first-team All-FCIAC selection, the high scoring Gallego was chosen All-State after leading the Vikings to an 11-7-2 mark.

The junior co-captain recorded 12 shutouts and allowed just 13 goals in 21 games for the Wreckers, who reached their third straight league final. Named All-State and first-team All-FCIAC.
