The Gray Bees won their 10th national title this season behind a historically great senior class. Whether it was three-time national champion Johnny Antunes or the rest of a dominant offense including Fabio DeSousa and Victor Villagomez, St. Benedict’s had superstars all over the field. Delbarton won its fourth straight Non-Public ‘A’ state championship with a 2-0 victory over CBA. John Gerard and Bobby Fabricant had the goals, securing the Green Wave a 12th state championship overall. It was yet another shutout for a senior-laden back line led by Jack Kiely, Brian Finn, and Rory Madigan. Next: Season complete.

The Mountaineers gave up an early goal off a set piece and couldn't unlock Washington Township's stout defense in a 1-0 defeat in the Group 4 state championship game. West Orange completed a spectacular season in one of the toughest leagues in the Tri-State. Zach Brown owned the midfield all year long, and Diego Pedrido was a very good goalkeeper. The CHSAA Class AA city champions had its season come to an end Friday night as Long Island title winners Chaminade recorded a 3-0 victory in the state semifinals at St. John’s University. The Admirals fell to Section 4 champ Ithaca, 4-2, in penalty kicks in a Class AA regional final. Both sides struggled to muster up any offense, playing 110 scoreless minutes before the match was decided in PKs. It’s hard to beat a good team once, let alone twice or three times and that’s what Scotch Plains learned in a four-game series with Elizabeth this year.
