The Crusaders tuned up for Saturday’s showdown with rival Iona Prep by beating Christ the King, 28-7, on the road on Sunday night. Michael Nicosia passed for 278 yards and a touchdown with Alex Thomas hauling in four passes for 145 yards. Stepinac is tied atop the CHSFL AAA Division standings with St. Anthony’s and Cardinal Hayes entering the season finale. Next: vs. Iona Prep (Saturday, 6 p.m.)

The Huguenots staged another showcase of their offensive firepower in Saturday’s Class AA quarterfinal win over Clarkstown North. Romeo Holden and Jared Baron each ran for two touchdowns and Jonathan Saddler threw a score and ran for one in the win. The two-time champs inched closer to their 11th sectional title in 15 years. The Gaels hung 70 points on the scoreboard in Saturday’s romp at St. Peter’s as Derek Robertson passed for 381 yards and six touchdowns, including two each to Michael DeGasperis (9 rec. 148 yards) and Johnryan Freeman. Ki’Shyne Shimpon ran for two touchdowns for Iona Prep, which is locked into the No. 5 seed in the CHSFL playoffs entering the finale. Next: at Stepinac (Saturday, 6 p.m.)

The Huskers took another step towards a third straight Section 1 final appearance, knocking off Tappan Zee in the Class A quarterfinals. Tommy Weaver passed for 155 yards and three touchdowns and also ran for a score while Brett Makar ran for 106 yards and two touchdowns on just 10 carries. Next: vs. Rye (Friday, 7 p.m.)

The Crusaders got another phenomenal effort from quarterback Steven Campione and beat Valley Central 38-7 in the Section 1 Class AA quarterfinals on Friday night. Campione passed for 196 yards and three touchdowns and ran for 48 yards and a score. Owen Chambers had 11 tackles as Monroe must now beat NFA in the semis to reclaim the title. The backfield tandem of Ricardo Yolas and quarterback Xavier Powell continue to emerge as one of the area’s best. In Friday’s Section 1 semifinal win over North Rockland, Yolas ran for 161 yards and three touchdowns and Powell passed for 126 yards and a score and rushed for 104 yards and two scores. The Patriots are peaking at the right time and that was evident in Saturday’s 28-0 win over Scarsdale in the Section 1 Class AA quarterfinals. Dylan Burnett earned News 12 Varsity Hudson Valley Player of the Week honors with a 146-yard rushing effort, scoring two touchdowns and throw another. Max Maybaum also returned on the offensive and defensive line after missing five games with injury. Next: at New Rochelle (Saturday, 1:30 p.m.)

NFA posted a 41-0 rout to set up a semifinals showdown with arch-rival Monroe-Woodbury on Saturday night. These teams have combined to win all but one Section 9 title since 1996. Another team that seems to be playing their best when it matters most is Clarkstown South. The Vikings went on the road and knocked off No. 4 seed Carmel, 34-13, in the Section 1 Class AA quarterfinals on Friday. Michael Iodice returned an interception for a touchdown to anchor a South defense that’s playing with confidence. Next: at Arlington (Friday, 7 p.m.)

The Iron Dukes got a shred of revenge on in their season finale two ago, knocking off New Paltz in a rematch of last year’s Class B title game. Malboro, which had a five-year stay as champions ended, knocked off New Paltz 21-7 on Friday as the defense staged arguably their best effort of the season. The tag of “favorites” is back on Marlboro. Next: vs. Liberty (Saturday, 3 p.m.)

The defending Section 1 Class B champs blew by Blind Brook in the quarterfinals as Jack Howe passed for two touchdowns and ran for one. Pleasantville now gets another shot against Valhalla, the team that beat them in the regular season, in the semifinals. Next: vs. Valhalla (Friday, 7 p.m. at Pace University)
