Career Day at Patchogue-Medford

Mrs. Loraine Meyer of the Patchogue-Medford business department created an event years ago. Mrs. Meyer contacts many local businesses and organizations and requests their participation at her annual Career Day. Local and national businesses and organizations come to the school and present different careers that students may one day pursue. Local organizations also introduce the students to the many organizations they can participate in for community service. This not only gives students better perspective on careers they may one day hold, but with careers ranging from photography to medicine, every student can find something that meets their fancy.

Students have the ability volunteer, find an internship, or learn about a job that they can start in high school. Students in the past have found their life's work at this event. As they walk around the gymnasium and pick up a pamphlet or two and, students gain insight on what their future may hold; ultimately, career day supplements the educational process by inspiring kids and introduces them to many opportunities that they can pursue.
