Chaminade has been looking for some form of consistency to its 2012-13 season for the past month now. The team hasn't won two games in a row since December 27-28, 2012.

Not anymore.

Jon Patterson led everyone on the court with 29 points as his Flyers (9-3, 3-2) topped Elmont, 75-60 in a special Martin Luther King, Jr. Day matinee at Chaminade High School.

The loss snapped a five game win streak Elmont was on.

The Flyers were coming off a storng win Friday night over St. Anthony's and looking to carry over the momentum through MLK Day.

However Elmont (5-4, 5-2) had other ideas. After Chaminade jumped out to an early 10-7 lead in the first quarter, the Spartans went off on a 17-5 run in the first and second quarters to pad its lead to 12 points midway through the second stanza. Junior point-guard Tristan Brown led Elmont with 19 points on the afternoon.

Chaminade quickly erased that deficit almost immediately as it went on its own 14-2 run to end the first half to bring both teams even at 29-29 at the halftime break.

The Flyers, which brand of high-octane offense was stifled by the Elmont onslaught in the first half, regained its form in the latter half as Chaminade outscore Elmont 24-18 in the third quarter, including a 14-6 run over the Spartans to establish its first lead larger than three points since the first quarter.

Sophomore Thomas O'Connell had 19 points for Chaminade as the Flyers added another 22 points in the final quarter to pad its lead to an eventual 75-60 win.
