Livecast primer: Boys LAX double-header

It’s a Tuesday double-dose of boys LAX on MSGVarsity.com.

First off, the defending NYS Class A boys lacrosse champions will be in search of its first win of the season as the Dalers of Farmingdale High School take on undefeated Lynbrook on MSGVarsity.com Camera One Livecast.

Face-off is scheduled to take place at 4:30 p.m. from Farmingdale HS.

The Dalers have had a rough go to the start of the 2012 season after a very successful 2011 campaign which saw the team earn longtime head coach Bob Hartranft his first state championship in over 40 years at the helm.

This season has gotten off to a start the Daler-faithful didn’t expect as Farmingdale dropped its first two contests of the year to Long Beach and Holy Trinity by a combined score of 21-9.

Joe Woodland has led Farmingdale in scoring with four goals in the past two games. He scored a hat trick in the season opener week ago in an 8-7 loss to Holy Trinity. Five other players all trail Woodland in scoring with just one goal apiece.

Lynbrook on the other hand, have had a successful start to its season.

The Owls are a solid 2-0 on the year following wins against Seaford and Oceanside and will look to make a bold statement on Nassau County with a win over the defending state champions.

Multi-sport star Luke Spitzer has led Lynbrook over the past two games with a team-high seven goals and three assists. Meanwhile Jake Siciliano has been solid between the pipes, racking up 26 saves and allowing just eight goals over the two games in net.

In the second-half of our double-header, Locust Valley travels to Roslyn High School in a cross-conference Nassau County LAX contest.

The Falcons have gotten a strong start to the 2012 season by going 2-1 through its first three games, although LV could easily be perfect right now.

After dropping its season-opener in a 12-11 heartbreaker to Port Washington, the Falcons have soared by winning its next two contests over Mepham and Kellenberg.

Chris Appell has been the Falcons’ most consistent player on the field so far this year. And when I mean consistent, it’s more like four goals a game consistent. Appell has four tallies in each of his first three games for twelve goals on the year. Teammate and multi-sport star Alex Rawa has been productive as well, notching seven goals so far on the season.

Roslyn has played the most games out of the four teams playing today, going 2-2 on the season in Cofnerence III. The Bulldogs currently sport wins against North Shore and New Hyde Park.

Its most recent performance was a 7-4 win against the aforementioned New Hyde Park Gladiators and was led by a two-pronged attack of Seth Boland and Evan Friedlander who both tallied hat tricks in the victory.

Michael Lefcourt was strong between the pipes with 10 saves on the day, which upped his total to 38 stops on the year.

Be sure to join Bob Galerstein on the call from Farmingdale and Steve Lenox from Locust Valley for this special double-dip of boys lacrosse only on MSGVarsity.com Camera One Livecast!
