Live game primer: Kings Park at Central Islip boys hoops

MSGVarsity.com live access is back in action again as the Kings Park Kingsmen (6-2) head to Central Islip (7-1) in a non-league boys basketball game.

Kings Park has had a solid season thus far and were successful in their last contest on December 28 against Huntington. The Kingsmen were able to knock off their League V rival with a 68-55 on the road. Kings Park took a four-point lead at halftime, but exploded in the third with a 23-8 quarter. Johnny Li led the way with 21 points and 5 assists, while Craig Jeudy finished with 20 points and 12 rebounds.

Jeudy is the leading scorer for Kings Park averaging 16.3 points per game, Li is second on his squad averaging just below 15 points per game, and Matt Moser has contributed with 8.7 points per contest.

Looking at Central Islip, the Musketeers are one of the best teams on Long Island. They are currently ranked third in MSG Varsity’s most recent boys basketball rankings.

However, CI was unsuccessful on Thursday against a phenomenal Bay Shore squad. The Musketeers lost to the Marauders, 57-37. Central Islip held a 24-20 lead at halftime, but Bay Shore shut down the Central Islip offense by only allowing 13 points in the second half. Ishiah Booker and Tim McKenzie each scored in double figures with 17 and 10 points respectively for CI.

McKenzie has scored in double figures in each game this year with his high mark of 27 while averaging 16.7 per game. Booker has also been a big scorer this year as he has hit his high mark of 17 three times this season and holds a 13.7 points per game average.

Be sure to check out MSGVarsity.com’s action starting at 1:00 p.m. where Barry Landers will be on the call. The game will re-air on MSG Varsity Optimum. Channel 14 on Wednesday, January 9 at 10:30 p.m.
