Livecast primer: Bay Shore vs. Sachem East

School’s out for the week, so wake up with MSGVarsity.com for some morning softball action as Bay Shore takes on Sachem East on MSGVarsity.com Gametime Livecast.

First pitch is scheduled to take place at 11:00 a.m. from Sachem East High School.

The Flaming Arrows of Sachem East had a lot of good things going as they started their 2012 softball season. Sachem opened its season in dominating fashion, first with a 9-2 win over West Babylon.

The Flaming Arrows followed it up in the form of two straight routs of Central Islip and Northport by a combined score of 26-3, the latter of which saw Jessica Caruana going 4-for-5 with two RBI in the win over Northport.

Winners of their first three contests in the spring, the Flaming Arrows are now looking to stop a two-game losing streak in which they’ve been outscored 20-3 against Lindenhurst and West Islip.

In the Flaming Arrows way will be a tough test in the form of the defending Suffolk County Class ‘AA’ champion, Bay Shore.

The Marauders are off to a likely start by winning its first four games, with its most recent victory coming over Connetquot in a 6-4 victory. Michelle DeVito did it all for Bay Shore, as she threw a five-hitter with 11 strikeouts and hit a bases-clearing triple in the first inning.

Expect to hear DeVito’s name mentioned a lot over the broadcast. In four games starting in the circle, DeVito has struck out 48 batters.
