Hicksville, NY—On April 30, Mayor Ralph Scordino came to Holy Trinity Diocesan High School to award senior Julia Florio a college scholarship of $2,500. The scholarship was given by the Mayor E. Donald Conroy Scholarship committee as a discretionary award due to the generosity of the community of Babylon.
When Ms. Florio was called down to the school library, she was a little nervous but she recognized Mayor Conroy and was pleasantly surprised to receive the news about the scholarship.
“Julia is a terrific student,” Mrs. Jeanne Carbone said. “She has an unwavering positive attitude and an infectious smile. Julia has worked really hard for her academic success, and certainly deserves the recognition she has gotten!"
Ms. Florio and her family will be guests at the awards dinner that will be held on June 6th at the Venetian Yacht Club in Babylon.
