In 2009 as a seventh grader, Corey Rasheed finished second at the NYS wrestling championships at 96 pounds. As a freshman, he finished fifth at 112 pounds and finished as a runner-up in 2012 at 138 pounds.

He wouldn't be denied in 2013.

And he did it in dominating performance.

Rasheed finished a remarkable 34-0 performance by pinning Great Neck South's Chris Koo in just 56 seconds to capture his first state title in the 152-pound championship match.

"I stepped on there and I thought, 'how many times have I lost on this mat already? It's time to change it,'" Rasheed said following his win. "I even wore a different singlet so I wouldn't be cursed or something."

And unfortunately for every other wrestler in New York, he'll be back for more as a senior in 2013-14.

"The kid just works so hard and he always had that in his mind -- he would just not stop until he got that state title," Longwood coach Matt DiSciullo said of Rasheed. "And he's only a junior so he's coming back for more next year."

New York, watch out for a hungrier Corey Rasheed.
