No. 4 Paramus Catholic 48, No. 5 Seton Hall Prep 7 HIGHLIGHTS - PHOTO GALLERY

Lamont Thomas rushed for four touchdowns and Leo Krizanovic added two others as Paramus Catholic upended Seton Hall Prep, 48-7, in the first round of the Non-Public Group 4 playoffs on Saturday. James Colacci also scored for the Paladins, who jumped out to a 27-0 lead in the second quarter in their first home playoff game since 2006. Paramus Catholic will face Don Bosco Prep in the semifinals next week. Sean Maguire scored a 1-yard rushing touchdown for Seton Hall Prep.

No. 1 St. Joseph Regional 48, No. 8 Bishop Ahr 6

St. Joseph Regional was able to stay in the No. 1 spot after defeating Bishop Ahr, 48-6, Saturday afternoon in the first round of the Non-Public Group 3 playoffs. After a touchdown in the first quarter, Bishop Ahr was scoreless the rest of the game against the Green Knights, ranked among the top teams in MSG Varsity's tri-state poll. Sherman Alston had a 44-yard run to score for St. Joseph in the first and the team cruised from there. St. Joseph will take on Immacualta, which cruised past DePaul on Friday, in the semifinals next weekend.

No. 2 Delbarton 49, No. 7 Monsignor Donovan 7 HIGHLIGHTS

The Delbarton show started in the first quarter with a 36-yard touchdown pass from John Shaffer, who completed 7 out of his 12 attempts, and ultimately translated into a resounding, 49-7 victory over Monsignor Donovan on Saturday. Shaffer had 160 yards passing and three touchdowns in the first half, and the Green Wave scored four touchdowns in the same span. Delbarton, ranked in the MSG Varsity tri-state poll, will see Red Bank Catholic next Friday night in the semifinals.


No. 3 Montclair Kimberley 42, No. 6 Queen of Peace 6

Montclair Kimberley was explosive in the second quarter by scoring three touchdown en route to defeating Queen of Peace, 42-6, on Saturday. It was a team effort for Montclair Kimberley, as six different players scored on offense -- including Max Herrmann, who notched two touchdowns and 65 yards receiving. Matthew Gregory had two interceptions on defense for Montclair Kimberley, which will match up against Holy Spirit next Friday in the Non-Public Group 2 semifinals.


No. 1 Pompton Lakes 28, No. 8 Hawthorne 14 PHOTO GALLERY

Running back Meiko Torres found the end zone three times for Pompton Lakes in its 28-14 victory over Hawthorne in the opening round of the North 1 Group 1 playoffs. Pompton Lakes held a 14-0 lead at halftime before Torres scored on runs of 26 and 53 yards. Pompton Lakes will take on Saddle Brook in the next round.

No. 5 Saddle Brook 30, No. 4 Mountain Lakes 7 PHOTO GALLERY

Steve Longa rushed for over 200 yards and three touchdowns as Saddle Brook blew by Mountain Lakes, 30-7, in the first round of the North 1 Group 1 playoffs on Saturday afternoon. The Falcons must now travel to 8-1 Pompton Lakes, the No. 1 seed in the section's bracket.

No. 3 Glen Rock 30, No. 6 Cresskill 7 HIGHLIGHTS

Joe Leem scored three touchdowns and Glen Rock moved past Cresskill, 30-6, in the first round of the North 1 Group 1 playoffs on Saturday afternoon. A 20-point second quarter propelled to the Panthers to punch their tickets to the semifinals next weekend.


No. 4 Lenape Valley 31, No. 5 Pascack Hills 7 HIGHLIGHTS

Michael Grieco, Nicholas Rafferty, and William Portington put forth sterling efforts on the ground and timely defense enabled Lenape Valley to cruise past Pascack Hills, 31-7, on Saturday afternoon in the first round of the North 1 Group 2 playoffs.


No. 7 Old Tappan 40, No. 2 Sparta 14

A healthy Devin Fuller led seventh-seed Old Tappan to blowout victory of the No. 2 team, Sparta, in the first round of the North 1 Group 3 tournament. Devin Fuller ran for a pair of scores and threw for another one, and running back Keith Rodman scored three times to open up a 40-0 lead after three quarters. Old Tappan will go up against Pascack Valley in round two.


No. 1 Montclair 44, No. 8 Memorial 0

To say that Khalif Herbin was dominant in Montclair’s 44-0 victory over Memorial is a bit of an understatement. Herbin scored all six of his team’s touchdowns in its first round blowout, including three rushing touchdowns. He also scored twice on punt returns and even caught a 30-yard touchdown pass from Nate Crutchfield. The Mounties’ next opponent is West Orange.

No. 4 West Orange 34, No. 5 Livingston 9

Lance Smith ran for 140 yards and two scores as West Orange cruised past Livingston, 34-9, in its first round game of the North 1 Group 4 tournament. Austin Vanderhoof had an efficient day for West Orange, throwing for 190 yards and two scores, most of those yards going to receiver Greg Johnson, who caught six passes for 115 yards and two touchdowns. West Orange will now face the top seed Montclair in the next round.


No. 2 New Providence 15, No. 7 Becton 14

New Providence pulled out an exciting 15-14 victory over Becton in its North 2 Group 1 opener. With Becton ahead 14-7 in the fourth quarter, Derek Singer made an interception on his own seven yardline and returned it 93 yards for the game-winning touchdown. New Providence will play the No. 3 seed Cedar Grove next.


No. 2 Madison 62, No. 7 Hackettstown 28

It was a huge day for the Dodgers offense in their North 2 Group 2 opener as they defeated Hackettstown, 62-28. Running back Justin Goodwin ran for 175 yards and two touchdowns and Shone Register racked up 158 yards and a score to power the offense. Quarterback Carson Lassiter completed just two passes, but they went for 130 yards and two scores. Madison moves on to face Chatham in round two.

No. 1 Summit 34, No. 8 Roselle 21

Quarterback Ryan Bringewatt tossed two touchdown passes and Summit scored the game's final 17 points to rally past Roselle, 34-21, in the first round of the North 2 Group 2 playoffs on Saturday. Summit will host Caldwell in the semifinals next weekend.


No. 4 Parsippany Hills 27, No. 5 Nutley 0 HIGHLIGHTS

Behind the running of C.J. Joyce and the passing of junior quarterback Tyler Simms, No. 4 Parsippany Hills cruised past No. 5 Nutley, 27-0, in the first round of the North 2 Group 3 playoffs on Saturday afternoon. Simms connected with Kyle Baxter and Mike Comerford in the first half to jumpstart the sterling offensive effort. Dan Hardwick hauled in a Simms scoring strike to extend the lead to 20-0 in the third. The final blow, however, would come in the fourth quarter as Simms found Kyle Baxter once again for his fourth touchdown pass of the contest.


No. 7 Bayonne 13, No. 2 Westfield 7

Malcolm ran for 115 yards and a score to lead Bayonne to a 13-7 victory over Westfield in the first round of the North 2 Group 4 tournament. Westfield led 7-6 after three quarters on a 1 yard run by James O’Rourke, but Tyhearn Williams recovered a fumble and ran it back 65 yards to the house to lift Bayonne over its opponent. Bayonne faces No. 3 seed Elizabeth next week.

No. 4 East Orange Campus 21, No. 5 Franklin 7

Najee Williams was responsible for a pair of fourth quarter touchdowns to lift East Orange over Franklin by the final score of 21-7. A 7-7 affair heading to the final quarter, Williams caught a touchdown pass from Justin Laroda, then tossed another to Elijah Nickerson to give East Orange the win. East Orange will face top seed Piscataway in the quarterfinals.


No. 1 Asbury Park 32, No. 8 Middlesex 7 PHOTO GALLERIES: PART 1- PART 2

Three touchdown passes from quarterback Robert Barksdale powered Asbury Park to a 32-7 win over Middlesex. Barksdale threw two to Amir Conover, who also scored on a seven yard run in addition to his 88 receiving yards. Asbury Park will face Point Pleasant Beach in its second round game.

No. 3 Florence 23, No. 6 Shore 0

Florence took down Shore, 23-0, in the first round of the Central 1 playoffs thanks to a strong rushing game. Jordan Stockton ran for 95 yards and a touchdown and Curtis Thompson added 75 yards and a score to lift Florence to victory. Florence will take on Dunellen in its second round matchup.


No. 2 Manasquan 34, No. 7 Red Bank 7

Manasquan continues its undefeated season with a 34-7 win over Red Bank Saturday afternoon. Red Bank was scoreless until the fourth when Jahimere Hinton scored the lone touchdown. Tyler Saito of Manasquan passed for two scores and Zach Vasilenko scored on a fumble return. The 9-0 Manasquan team will match up against Matawan Friday, November 18 in the semifinals of the Central Group 2 playoffs.


No. 6 Woodbridge 24, No. 3 Burlington Township 21

A field goal in the fourth quarter gave Woodbridge the final three points it needed to defeat third-seeded Burlington Township, 24-21, in the first round of the Central Group 3 playoffs Saturday afternoon. The first quarter started with a Mike Thomas 40-yard rushing touchdown, putting Burlington Township on the board first. Woodbridge answered back, however, and both teams went into the half tied at 14-14. Both teams scored a touchdown a piece in the second half of the game, but Woodbridge prevailed and will go on to face Steinert in the semifinals.


No. 3 West Windsor South 30, No. 6 North Brunswick 7

At the end of the first quarter, West Windsor South only led North Brunswick by six points, but broke the game open in the second quarter with two touchdown passes from quarterback Chris Evens and a score from Brian Schoenauer. Schoenauer had 153 yards rushing, two touchdowns, and 70 yards receiving. West Windsor South will face Manalapan in the Central Group 4 semifinals on November 18.
