Passaic County hoops rivals square off

A pair of teams looking to get back in the win column will square off Tuesday afternoon when cross-county rivals Passaic Tech and Passaic Valley hit the hardwood.

Passaic Tech comes off a heartbreaking loss to another bitter rival Passaic High School and will desperately want to get revenge when Passaic Valley rolls into town. Tech is led on both ends of the floor by star guard Isaac Williams, who despite being one of the smaller guys in the rotation is the epitome of a do-everything player.

The senior leads the bulldogs in points, field goals, three-pointers, free throws, assists and steals, and at all of 5-foot-10, 175-pounds is the team's fourth-leading rebounder.

Williams is going to have to outduel 330-point scorer Stefan Minic, a shooting guard who can also play the three and is capable of filling it up from anywhere on the floor. The junior has scored 52 points in the last two games, the last a 58-48 defeat at the hands of DePaul Catholic.

Minic has scored double digit points in all but two games this season, and has made a team-high 64 three-pointers, proving to be one of the top outside shooters in the state. It’s usually up to the supporting cast to help supplement the talented finisher and that will be worth keeping an eye on.

Tipoff is scheduled for 4 p.m. and all of the action can be seen live on
