Ridge aims to keep winning streak alive

Ridge is no stranger to giving the scoreboard operator a good workout. In turn, the Red Devils have used that prowess on offense to earn early season success.

The hard part, however, is keeping the winning attitude in tact, and they aim to do just that when hosting Watchung Hills in a live-streamed boys lacrosse showdown on Friday evening at 7 p.m.

Ridge, which is ranked No. 6 in the MSG Varsity New Jersey power rankings, moved up from the eighth slot in the previous week's poll thanks to a stellar stretch that included wins over Hunterdon Central, Bernards and North Hunterdon.

Alec Burckley excelled on faceoffs and J.T. Palladino delivered the game-winner in overtime to spur an 8-7 upset over Hunterdon Central on Saturday. Meanwhile, Mitchell Gray and Chris Palladino have been strong performers on defense and their talents were on display in the other highly magnified victories.

The Red Devils, who enter 7-2 overall, have rattled off those three consecutive wins after suffering a tough, 10-6 loss to No. 4 Chatham. Despite the setback, Ridge is feeling good about its ability to put points on the board.

This season, the Red Devils have scored 10-plus goals in six of their nine contests and are averaging 12.3 over their last three.

Meanwhile, Watchung Hills looks to snap its three-game skid after falling to Pingry, Immaculata and, most recently, Hillsborough.

Jonathan Cracolici tallied twice, while Jeff George and Peter Cowan also scored for the Warriors (3-4) in their 9-4 loss on Wednesday.
