The entire Saturday schedule for the Coaches Vs. Cancer Classic at Paterson Kennedy has been cancelled because of the snow storm, but the four-game Sunday lineup remains intact.
Action tips off at 11 a.m. with undefeated Wood-Ridge taking on Union City, followed by Indian Hills vs. Passaic Valley at 12:30, St. Joseph of Montvale vs. Passaic at 2 and Pascack Hills vs. Colonia at 3:30.
The Classic got off to a rousing start Friday night with an MSG Varsity Top 15 upset and a near-upset of major proportions.
Paterson Kennedy (7-6) carried a 28-22 lead into the second half against undefeated and No. 5 Teaneck behind the sensational play of senior guard Sammy Singletary, but the Highwaymen held on, 59-54, to improve to 14-0. Singletary finished with a season-high 32 points while senior swingman Chris Jones countered with 25 for Teaneck. Teammate Joel Hernandez chipped in with 13.
The other Friday contest saw unranked Don Bosco Prep (11-4) defeat No. 11 Linden, 69-60, behind the balanced scoring of Jemal Mosley (13 points), Dajon Todmann, Paul Jorgensen and Leonte Carroo. Senior guard Shakir Phelps paced Linden (6-5) with 21 points. Bosco had been ranked in the Top 15 earlier this season and certainly has made a pitch to return to make a return to the neighborhod.
