David Summers was 16-of-22 for 233 yards and five touchdowns – three to Jared Mallozzi – and had six carries for 50 yards and another score and Philip Pasmeg had a pair of TD receptions in a 49-20 win over Rocky Hill in the Class S semifinals. Summers, who is 30-of-38 for 507 yards and 11 TDs in two state tournament games, is tied for fifth in Connecticut history with 44 touchdown passes this season. Anthony Travis passed for 141 yards and three touchdowns, including a pair to Sean Saunders, and the junior QB also rushed for a score to direct the Bulldogs past reigning-champion Weequahic, 35-0, Saturday for the North Jersey, Section 2, Group 1 title. Dylan Laube had 25 carries for 227 yards and a Long Island Championship-tying six touchdowns, Liam McIntyre had 14 carries for 77 yards and a TD and recorded eight tackles and two sacks, Nolan Quinlan had nine tackles and hauled in a 64-yard touchdown pass from Clarke Lewis to lead the Hurricanes to a 54-26 win over Lawrence as Westhampton captured a first-ever Long Island Class III title. Matt Sluka had 17 carries for 227 yards and five touchdowns, threw for a score and was 6-of-8 on PATs, Frank Roder gained 154 yards and rushed for a score and Jordan DeLucia rushed for 114 yards and added a pair of TDs as the Firebirds racked up 506 yards on the ground in a 54-19 win over Fordham Prep in the CHSFL Class AA final. The Panthers captured their first state championship in school history on Sunday, knocking off Chenango Forks, 28-14, in the Class B final at the Carrier Dome in Syracuse.
