Championship
at Saunders High School

Gorton 65, Riverside 52

Dane Williamson scored 31 points and grabbed 10 rebounds in the Yonkers City Championship game. He added four steals and three assists in the big victory over rival Riverside. Ian Parker tried to pull Riverside back from a huge halftime deficit but the Wolves wouldn't allove it. Parker finished with 19 points and 18 rebounds in the loss.

Saunders 78, Palisade Prep 60

Wednesday, January 16

Gorton 66, Saunders 58

Rashon McKay scored 23 points and Dane Williamson and Kwun Mel-Fincher each added 16 as the Wolves advanced to the Yonkers City tournament championship game. Mel-Fincher scored all of his points in the second half in the win. Saunders freshman Derrick Felder had 20 in the loss.

Riverside 82, Palisade Prep 50

Riverside handed Palisade Prep its first loss of the season, defeating the Phoenix hanidly in the semifinal matchup. Ian Parker was electrifying, scoring 23 points, highlighted by four dunks, and notching six rebounds and five steals. David Morris had 17 points and Khalif Mason added 15 points and five assists in the win. Riverside will face Gorton for the Yonkers City championship on Saturday night at Saunders.

Saunders 77, Roosevelt 57

Dijon Gonzales scored a career-high 29 points with 10 rebounds as the top-seeded Blue Devils advanced to the semifinals. Erickson Gonzalez added 16 points and Rahbir Hamman added eight points and seven rebounds for Saunders, which will face Gorton in the semifinals at home on Wednesday.

Palisade Prep 83, Yonkers Montessori 23

Kevin Sabino scored 16 points and Fred Truss and Isaiah Ward each added 15 in the win. Palisade Prep will face Riverside in the semifinals on Wednesday at Saunders at 6 p.m.

Riverside 68, Yonkers 34

Ian Parker scored 19 points and Khaliff Mason added 11 as second-seeded Riverside advanced to the semifinals. They'll face No. 3 Palisade Prep in semifinals at 6 p.m.

Gorton 72, Lincoln 44

The fourth-seeded Wolves cruised by No. 5 Lincoln. Gorton will face Saunders in the semifinals on Wednesday at 4:15 p.m.

Saunders 51, Yonkers 37

Amanda Smith scored 16 points to earn MVP honors for the Blue Devils in the Yonkers city championship game. Amanda Kiriakos scored a game-high 18 points for Saunders and Miranda Santiago and Neomy Kwipu each had 10 in the loss for Yonkers.

Palisade Prep won third-place honors in the Yonkers City Tournament consolation game behind a career-high 17 points from Kayla Cortinas.
