Wednesday’s live stream features the Hudson Valley’s best rivalry when Mount Vernon and New Rochelle meet for the first time this season.

The Knights, the eight-time Section 1 and two-time state champions, swept the Huguenots last season and are off to a 7-1 start. Their lone loss was the CHSAA powerhouse Bishop Loughlin.

New Rochelle has had a turbulent start to Rasaun Young’s first season as head coach. The Huguenots are 5-6 overall and are coming off a 57-55 defeat at Scarsdale on Tuesday. New Rochelle had won three straight prior.

Josh Doughty, a 5-foot-9 combo guard, has been the catalyst for the Mount Vernon offense all season. He’s a terrific 3-point shooter and one of the region’s best on-the-ball defenders.

New Rochelle will feature a balanced attack but will hinge on the play of Joe Clarke. The senior forward had  a commanding 25-point, 12-rebound effort against Middletown on Saturday in the Hoops for a Cure showcase.

Mount Vernon has a formidable front line with Bradnon Martin, Jamal Lewis and Devonte Banner.

The Huguenots must get solid play from their backcourt, especially Derek Dorn, Sean Fener and Donny Powell.
