New Rochelle enters the 2012-2013 season looking to win its first Section 1 championship since 2004-2005. With a solid group returning and the energy of first-year head coach Rasaun Young.

Joe Clarke is the go-to player for the Huguenots and is versatile. He has the ability to score inside or outside and has great athleticism. Terrance Holden will use his length to defend taller players and his speed to beat them down the floor. Tariq Rhett has been designated the defensive stopper for New Rochelle and without sounding too cliché, he has a motor that doesn’t stop.

Iona hasn’t beaten its rival since 2008-2009, but should be right in the game with the Huguenots if the young sophomores can play a bit older. Isaiah Ice needs to be the offensive leader for the Gaels.

New Rochelle will try and push the tempo out of Iona’s comfort zone. If the pace is slowed, the scoreboard could favor the Gaels.
